Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United: Reds close gap on Man City with comfortable win
Liverpool moved to within three points of Premier League leaders Manchester City with a comfortable 3-1 win over Sheffield United at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds took the lead through Virgil van Dijk's header in the 37th minute, and Divock Origi doubled their advantage just before half-time.
Sheffield United pulled one back through David McGoldrick in the 55th minute, but Xherdan Shaqiri restored Liverpool's two-goal lead with a fine strike in the 70th minute.
The win moves Liverpool up to second place in the table, three points behind Man City, who have a game in hand.
Sheffield United remain bottom of the table, 13 points from safety.
