Damir Džumhur Retires From Professional Tennis

Bosnian Tennis Star Calls It A Career At 30

Džumhur Reached A Career-High Ranking Of 23 In 2018

Bosnian tennis star Damir Džumhur has announced his retirement from professional tennis at the age of 30. The former world number 23 made the announcement on his social media channels, saying that he had "decided to hang up my racquet and retire from professional tennis." Džumhur cited a number of factors for his decision, including injuries, a loss of motivation, and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Džumhur turned professional in 2010 and quickly established himself as one of the most promising young players on the ATP Tour. He won his first ATP title in 2017 at the St. Petersburg Open and went on to reach a career-high ranking of 23 in 2018. Džumhur also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Davis Cup and the Olympic Games.

However, Džumhur's career was plagued by injuries in recent years. He underwent surgery on his wrist in 2019 and missed most of the 2020 season due to a knee injury. Džumhur's ranking dropped outside the top 100 in 2021 and he struggled to regain his form in 2022.

In his retirement announcement, Džumhur said that he was "proud of what I have achieved in my career" and that he was "grateful for all the support I have received from my family, friends, and fans." Džumhur also said that he was looking forward to the next chapter in his life and that he was "excited to see what the future holds."
